Our Story | Handmade Money Trees & Gift Card Holders
Our Story
The hands that broke are the hands that build.
My hands used to lift seventy-five pounds without a second thought.
Then one ordinary day at my retail job, I was throwing out a box. Nothing more. That's when I herniated three discs in my neck and tore a tendon. Eighteen years of work, gone in a moment. Today my arm can barely lift a gallon of milk, my hand goes numb without warning, and things slip right out of it.
I had to relearn how to use my own hand.
What brought the rhythm back wasn't therapy equipment. It was drawing. Then painting. Then wood. Working with my hands gave me something to steady me, and slowly, it gave me back my focus, my confidence, and my sense of purpose. What began as a way to cope quietly became recovery. The workshop stopped being a workspace and became part of how I healed.
How the tree grew
I sold a few pieces at a local craft fair, and I caught the bug.
But A Gifting Tree really began with a problem every family knows. My nieces and nephews were teenagers, and all they wanted was cash. Handing a kid a plain envelope felt so flat: too rushed, too cold, too forgettable. So I started finding little ways to make giving money feel like a moment. I put that together with my woodworking, and A Gifting Tree was born.
The moment that matters most
There's one moment I make every piece for.
It's the few seconds right after someone opens the gift, when the presentation catches them off guard, when "here's some money" suddenly becomes "someone really thought about me."
That small, surprised, warm reaction is the real gift. The cash is just the cash. The feeling is everything.
Made by hand, on purpose
A Gifting Tree was built as a family. My father, a proud Vietnam veteran, ran the wood-cutting in the early years and helped me learn the craft. My mother hand-painted alongside me, bringing warmth and personality to every detail. They've earned their rest now, but they're still behind every piece that leaves my table.
And the family didn't stop there. My husband and kids jump in with love and support, and on the busy nights everyone pitches in. We're not a big box store. We're a family, and that's what makes all the difference.
Our products are never made in a factory, and they are never meant to be flawless. They carry real hands, real stories, and a few real imperfections, because that's what makes them feel human.
Whether it's a wedding, a bar or bat mitzvah, a graduation, a birthday, a teacher's thank-you, or a Christmas morning, the goal is always the same: to make giving money feel beautiful, thoughtful, and worth remembering.
Because in the end, the gift matters, but the feeling you attach to giving it matters just as much.

We're honored every time one of our creations becomes part of your celebrations. Thank you for inviting our family into your most meaningful moments.
