Making something out of nothing is harder than it looks, and lonelier. There's no client asking for it and no deadline forcing it. Just a person who decided the thing should exist, standing in front of a blank surface, starting anyway. Most people never find out what that takes.

Three designs, and they sit differently. The easel and palette version centers a canvas with a landscape coming up on it, palette and loaded brush in front, ringed by a stool, a paint tube, a brush jar, and color swatches. The man and woman versions show an artist standing at the easel, brush up and palette in hand, mid-stroke, so it looks like the person you're actually thanking. Around the ring on all three: imaginative, detail-oriented, passionate, perceptive, creative, observant, expressive, innovative.

All three come in red, green, blue, or black with a leather cord that matches, and any of them can carry their name across the center in place of the word "Artist."

The gift card slides in from the side and tucks behind the front layer, out of sight until they go looking for it. Tuck a card to the art supply store inside and it stops being a generic gift and becomes more paint, which is usually the thing they will not buy for themselves.

Right for a first show, a piece sold, art school finished, or a studio finally set up in the spare room. Also right for a birthday or Christmas, especially for the person who makes things constantly and has never once called themselves an artist out loud.
