The light deserves a place of its own.

This menorah begins as a tree. Hand-drawn first, then laser-cut layer by layer, its branches lift and open into nine candles, with the shamash raised at the center where it belongs. Olive leaves, small round berries, and a blooming base fill in around it, so the whole piece reads as a tree of light rather than a symbol printed on a board.

Six layers of Baltic birch give it the depth. Five are natural wood, warm and honey toned, each one cut separately and stacked so the branches sit above the leaves and the leaves sit above the trunk. The sixth layer is a deep blue that shows through the cutouts like night behind the branches. In afternoon light the layers cast soft shadows onto each other, and the piece changes a little as the day moves.

At 13 inches tall, it is substantial enough to hold a wall on its own and easy to place: above a sideboard, beside the front door, in the room where the candles get lit.

Hanukkah is when it shines. But this is not a piece you pack away in January. Long after the last candle burns down, it stays on the wall as quiet, everyday Judaica, a small reminder of light and family in a home that already knows the story.

Every layer is drawn, cut, sanded, finished, and stacked by hand in our family workshop, sawdust and all. The grain runs differently through every sheet of birch, so no two pieces come out exactly alike. We think that is the best part.
